Conservative dentistry is a branch of restorative dentistry that deals with the care of teeth affected by caries processes.
It is the combination of all the caries removal procedures and those related to the reconstruction of lost dental tissue due to a carious disease or trauma.
It generally adopts a mini invasive approach, i.e. it tends to respect the residual dental structures as much as possible.
Functional restoration can be direct (fillings) or indirect (inlays, veneers).
An endodontic therapy (tooth devitalization) is necessary in case of deep caries that affect the tooth pulp.
