DENTAL HYGIENE, WHITENING

Oral hygiene

Dental hygiene is the branch of dentistry that concerns the prevention of all the diseases of the oral cavity, from gum inflammation to the formation of caries.

The prevention is conducted by graduated dental hygienists and includes periodical tartar ablations and a continuous and personalized oral health education, in order to maintain the correct dental care at home.

Dental hygiene includes different protocols according to the age of the patient.

Childhood: in addition to an appropriate teaching of the correct brushing technique, the dental sealant treatments, combined with a suitable fluoroprophylaxis, are an excellent prevention for cariogenic diseases.

Adulthood: the prevention techniques in adult patients aim to maintain healthy gums and strong enamel. Gum recessions and dentinal sensitivity are very common problems that can be cured with proper treatments. In case of a periodontal disease, the treatments are performed to restore oral health by removing the cause of inflammation (plaque, tartar above and below the gum). Finally, if implants or other prosthetic solutions are present, the dentist suggests the correct maintenance techniques both at home and in the clinic.
